Having an intimate relationship with someone is always a complicated matter. For one thing, it is never the same for every couple. There are so many facets in a relationship to consider if you want to make make it successful and so it does not come as a surprise that it becomes more difficult to fix a broken one.

Fortunately, there is one thing common in all break ups. This makes it possible for us to have a baseline to work with.

What is it, you ask?

There is always a REASON for a break up. Relationships don’t end without a reason or a cause. There is always a triggering factor that makes the bond break between the couple. If your partner says there is no reason for the break up, then sadly, I am likely to conclude that there was no real relationship in the first place.

This is the starting point if you want to know how to fix a broken relationship. You must understand the REASON why you broke up. By completely understand WHY, you will easily know HOW.

Here are some key questions that you can ponder on to help you understand more about your relationship:

1) Where Did You Go Wrong? Now that you are officially “not together”, it would be a good time for you to think and meditate on what went wrong between the two of you. Take a step back from the fights, the arguments, and the pressure. Look at it from a different perspective. Asking an unbiased friend to help you out is a good idea.

2) Where Did You Go Right? To balance out the negative, its always best to look at the positive aspects of your relationship as well. What did you enjoy the most doing? Go back to the wonderful feelings you always felt when you were close to each other, laughing at jokes, or just enjoying each others company.

3) Why Do You Want to Get Back Together? Weigh the positives and the negatives that you came up with and see which among the two has more weight. This way, you will know if its really worth it to get back together or not. It is important to be true to yourself and be objective. As much as possible, try to separate the emotions so you can get a good view of what you really want.

I am sure that by doing this exercise, you will already have a good overview of WHY a relationship ended and get a good glimpse of HOW to fix a broken relationship. Of course, this does not end here. Like I mentioned at the start of this article, relationships are different for every couple. There are multitude of ways to try to get your ex back, but only a handful of them will work in your case. It is always best to read and do more research so that you gain more knowledge on how to mend things with your partner. Make sure to read up on more great tips on how to fix a broken relationship.
